Community Benefits Agreement

KARA is actively working to negotiate a Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) with the Related Companies to ensure that the Kingsbridge Armory improves our community. CBA’s are agreements between developers and communities that address a broad range of community needs. These agreements ensure that affected residents share in the benefits of major developments. They allow community groups to have a voice in shaping a project, to press for community benefits that are tailored to our community’s needs, and to enforce a developer’s promises.

The CBA movement is spreading rapidly, taking hold in metropolitan regions across the country, including Denver, Milwaukee, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, Seattle, New York City, Chicago and Washington, DC. This movement has recently begun spreading out to Baltimore, as the community is fighting for living wage jobs.
